I was going to Yellowknife and wanted a cruise to Alaska after. This cruise was scheduled perfectly so I choosed this cruise. As a first time cruiser, I really do not know which cabin to choose, so I opted for a guarantee cabin. But that was a huge mistake. I was assigned cabin 5179 which was near the aft. As I learned belatedly, that was one of the most shaky part of the ship. My partner and I got sea sick almost everyday in the ship. We requested for a transfer to another cabin but did not get any reply. Our relief were the port stops. But still, one of the three port stop was cancelled. We did not stop at Skagway, while two others cruise ships were able to made their stops there just few minutes/hours earlier.
The front desk and dining staff were all great. They were friendly and nice. Dining at Manhattan dining room was very good. In one gala night, however, I wasn't able to eat because of severe sea sickness. I had to leave the dining room as I was afraid I will vomit there. Buffet at Lido was good. Beware of the time 10:30 to 11:30am though, there is no food anywhere except in-room dining. We woke up late one time and ended without breakfast. Had to wait for 11:30am to eat.
Some of the entertainment were very good, while other were just okay.
Terrible. I opted for a guarrantee cabin and got this 5179. This probably is one of the worst cabin in the ship. It was super shaky, even in normal waters. I got sea sick most of the time, and in one time had a nightmare of an earthquake. It's true. I had to take sea sickness medicine daily. This really had turn a once in a lifetime cruise into a a very bad experience.
Fast embarkation and disembarkation. Very organized
We were not able to stop here, while other cruise ships ahead of us by few minutes / hours were able to
No shore excursions. Just viewing.
Just like Juneau, the town is filled with souvenir shops
