Mixed reviews from our family. The itinerary was absolutely amazing - we would do it again in a heartbeat! Check in was very smooth - but the wait in line as you were getting on the ship was ridiculous. Our luggage arrived to our room in a timely fashion. We have been on a few Norwegian ships prior, and we are all in agreement that we prefer the smaller ships compared to this one. Although some of the evening entertainment was amazing, having to pre-book was one thing we really disliked. We do no enjoy having to pre-plan our days around being back in time for a show or miss it.

The food was very good. The thought of eating after 15 days on our last cruise was almost unbearable, but the variety and quality of the food on the epic was great for the 20 days. But, if you didn't pre-book ahead of time, there was no chance to get into some of the specialty restaurants, which is not okay. We really did try to avoid the buffet - what a gong show! The staff in the restaurants were ok for the most part ( a few really stood out) but I think because of the large number of people on the ship, your are more of a number than a guest getting a wonderful experience. Unfortunately we also had a horrible room steward.

The pools and waterslides were great. I would suggest that they add a few more ping pong tables. We found that the games and activity options were not as good as our last two cruises which really surprised us for the size of the ship. The delay in exiting the ship for the overpriced shore excursions was also a disappointment. For the cost of each tour, we shouldn't be losing 1+ hours of each tour due to delays for poor planning on their part.

Cabin Review

Large Balcony

There was plenty of room in the cabin. The balcony was roomy (but not cleaned at all during our 20 days). The bed was extremely uncomfortable - I ended up not being able to get out of bed without help and had to go for a very poorly done and over priced acupuncture treatment. After asking my cabin steward for 10 days to please find a foam to put on my mattress ( he finally did and I slept much better for the remainder of the trip).

We really disliked the bathroom set up in the room - NO PRIVACY! Very poorly planned. That could even be enough to make me not want to go on the epic again.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

We went on our own in Barcelona and explored by ourselves. Beautiful city. We spent 2 days pre and 2 days post cruise.

Malaga

Went for a horse and carriage ride and visited the Picasso museum. Beautiful city, easy to get around on your own.

Sardinia

Nice stop, food was great. Missed the beaches which are supposed to be amazing!
