It was our 25th wedding anniversary and something special was what we were after. The Pacific Pearl didn't disappoint. Booking a short 3 night 'Comedy' themed cruise was a blast.

Sure the ship in parts is showing some age, a bit of rust in parts but we can't complain with the energetic and helpful attitude of the staff. We didn't book to stay all day and night in our cabin but found it adequate for our needs. We were on deck 9 with a good sized porthole, letting you see the conditions outside. On boarding we booked Luke Mangan's restaurant for our anniversary dinner, only to be told that Luke is on board the cruise. At $49 for 3 courses plus breads it was great value and even better Luke was working the floor, greeting all guests and more than happy to have a photo. He put on a cooking demonstration the following day in the Marquee showroom and besides cooking his signature dishes, was a great showroom interacting with the audience. On the comedy side, booking not knowing who we'd see, we had headliners Bob Downe, Hung Le, Rusty Berther(Scared Weird Little Guys), Dean Atkinson the ventriloquist, Kat Davidson and Kehau Jackson. (If you don't know them-look them up).

The house band Exito and all the bands and musos were great, the jam on the last night was a blast. The trivia games were fun, it was a bit chilly to use the pool.

Cabin Review

Although some fittings are a little tired, there was plenty of storage, porthole/window gave a good view to the outside world. Although compact the shower was good, nice and warm. The bed was firm but provided great rest.
