My husband and I planned this cruise almost two years ago while we were on a Panama Canal cruise on the Infinity. The big attraction was that the itinerary included so many ports we had never experienced, including an embarkation from Amsterdam where we had never visited before. We are frequent cruisers, primarily on Celebrity, so were familiar with Silhouette and consider it one of our favorite ships.

After a fabulous stay in Amsterdam, we boarded the Silhouette and ran into the one glitch we experienced during the 12 day cruise. Celebrity had "upgraded" us to a Concierge Class room that we neither needed or wanted. We had carefully chosen our 1A cabin while on the Infinity cruise in 2014 because of its location and large balcony. Needless to say, I was a very unhappy customer. Fortunately, a wonderful guest services manager, Milana, was able to straighten out the mess by the end of the day and get us back our original cabin.

From there on, almost everything about the cruise was fantastic. The service, which has always been good, was even better than we recalled. We had select dining and discovered Nelson and Maritza's section in the main dining room. They made dining such fun! The buffet was as good as ever and a terrific improvement over the buffet on our June cruise on the Emerald Princess (but that's a totally different review). We ate at two specialty restaurants, Qsine and Murano. Both were excellent. We had intended to dine in Tuscany, but were disappointed in the changes they had made to their menu. Not a big deal for us to skip that one.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1A

Cabin 1A

This is an excellent cabin on deck 9 which we have had on previous cruises. It has an extra large balcony and is located near the elevators.

Port Reviews

Cartagena (Spain)

We enjoyed touring the Roman ruins. Bought a combination ticket to three sites and were off on our own.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

We wandered around on our own, viewed the exterior of the Cathedral, visited the craft market, and had some wonderful tapas.

Amsterdam

We spent five days here pre-cruise and thoroughly enjoyed the city. The museums are amazing and that's where we chose to spend most of our time.

Brugge (Bruges)

We went into the city on our own, did a canal cruise and ate chocolate. A magical, fairy tale kind of place. Beware that the bus shuttle transport being offered at the port leaves you a fair distance from the city center.
