Always wanted to see the Norwegian fjords & we hoped by going in August (albeit late August) we would have decent weather. We had been to the Sounds in NZ on a stunning day in March on Radiance, so were hoping our luck would hold for Norway. But it didnt, it was grey & moist most of the time. But we still had a great time! Our cabin as at the very front of the ship, under the brdge, so we had the same view as the captain, very good! First time we've not had a balcony cabin, we didn't really miss it as the weather wasn't good enough to sit out, but the room was rather stuffy & we were glad we took an air freshener along.

The ship was fine, food was good, staff were great. We didn't feel the need to eat in the upgraded restaurants as the MDR was excellent. No issues at all, except not enough seats in the Schooner Bar for the ever popular quizzes. The ice show was brilliant, first time we've seen something like this on the high seas. Fanastic energy. Only went to a couple of shows as odd timings didn't always fit in with our enjoyment of dinner, but the Michael Buble tribute act was good. We had the drinks package included in our booking, the wines were very basic so my husband upgraded his to get a better choice. I cant say it would be worth buying the package if it was not offered as a freebie, Had to take ships xcursion on Flam railway as RCC had bought up all the tickets! It was so overpriced, compared to a train ticket from the station or train website! It only included as an extra a cold waffle with jam & cream plus a lukewarm coffee in a very poor quality run diwn hotel with ONLY1 toilet for ALL the passengers from the excursion...awful!

Large Oceanview Stateroom

Cabin F

Good, front facing on deck 9, need to close curtains at night as directly under bridge. Same view as captain! Bit stuffy as no window to open!!

Port Reviews

Stavanger

Cute old town, several museums including sardine & oil!!!??? Waterfront cafes, expensive food( it is Norway after all & you dont need food if you are on a cruise ship!) we couldnt find much to spend our kroners on so gave all our change to an accordion player...who looked Romanian!!! No time to take excursion to Pulpit Rock, but there was a small boat trip in the harbour. Rain stopped us from going...once again.
