I cruised solo, which is the norm for me now, and overall it was a good cruise with some hiccups, that affected my experience. Due to painful back and hip issues, I now mostly stay on board the ship during port days, so there will be no review of ports in my review.
I will start by saying that I have never had a bad cruise. Some have been better than others, and others have been lacking in areas. This cruise did not make my best ever list, even though I did enjoy myself very much. The strange thing is that I really did love the ship, both layout and décor. Yes I do love pink!. and mostly because of Carnival's wonderful crew who were as warm and friendly as ever.
I will start with the positives.
the room was nice, and I like the port hole rooms, because you get it for an inside price, but still get some natural light in the room. There was some morning noise when arriving in ports, but nothing I don't expect already, and does not last long. The seas were calm, so motion was not an issue. Only thing I did not like was the mattress on the single bed, springy like a trampoline. I slept on the sofa, but it was a bit to hard for me. No happy medium.
I walk with a cane, and was hoping to do the hop on hop off bus tour, but having made it into the terminal building the line up for ticket sales was very long and the line did not move for a long time. Standing in line was too painful for me, so I unfortunately had to go back on board. The views from the ship however were very pretty, just wish they were a bit more speedy with selling tickets for that bus.
stayed at the Hampton inn Miami airport blue lagoon pre cruise. It was excellent in every way, and the shuttle to the port was 10.00 and efficiently run. Post cruise, stayed one night at the Embassy suites Miami airport, and it too was a nice hotel. I would stay at either one again.
