I chose this crossing of the Atlantic from NYC to Southampton because it met my goal of enjoying a crossing without jet lag. Also, my wife and I were going to be in the UK for about a month so starting in Southampton was a good start.
This was the first time I had been on the renovated QM2. I had crossed on the previous version of the ship. This was a major and pleasing upgrade.
My main impressions? Much better food in the main dining room. Then as all the carpets had been replaced, the entire ship looked and felt new. The entertainment was mediocre, and the main speakers were fabulous.
Great cabin, very clean with all the plumbing working just great. The new furnishings from the rehab were excellent with the TV on the wall and the addition of a tea boiler - nice addition. The room steward did an outstanding job.
