Just back from 12night cruise on Brilliance of the Seas (Royal Caribbean). it was our first family cruise - but unfortunately for us probably our last!

For cruise newbees several things came as a shock and became irritations.

Overall - what a beautiful ship - set out over 13 floors (10 and 11 were main decks) accommodation below with a main buffet restaurant (Windjammer), Fixed and MyTime dining at Mistral; three specialty restaurants - Izumi (Asian), Chops (steak) and Giovanni (Italian); and a Mexican. Wine bars included Main Hall (deck 4); outside areas (10 and 11); Schooner Bar (deck 6); Colony bar and Vintages wine bar also both deck 6.

Port Reviews

Kotor

Expensive for what it was. Too much walking for young kids.

Barcelona

Stayed a couple of extra nights in Barcelona Tryp Apolo - see my review on Trip Advisor

Venice

Been to Venice before - beautiful just wandering around. Tender charges to get off boat expensive.

Split

Lovely to wander about. Many restaurants wont let you just have a drink - head to harbour front for that. Plenty of places to exchange money/ ATMs

Positano (Amalfi)

Capri beautiful but very expensive - be wary of restaurant high prices (grab a quick bite at harbour). Long queue to go up funicular (60mins wait). Coastal trip by boat stunning and relaxing especially on way back when less people.
