This ship was very large and very nice with a great layout. Two big pools. Never crowded anywhere. We really like the way the buffet stations are layed out for easy access. Both were very good. We only went to a few of the shows at night, the Russian Dancers were outstanding. The service on ship everywhere was excellent.
We boarded about 3 hours before departure and zipped right through to our cabin which was ready. On the day of departure we carried our own bags and were off the ship by 7 a.m. for a 1045 flight. We booked taxis with airportstaxitransfers, com in advance that were waiting for us when we arrived and departed Amsterdam for half the price the ship offered (35 Euro total each way).
The food in the buffet was just as good as the dining room. There were lots of nice surprises like the huge pile of sweet cherries one day, strawberries and then blue berries the next.
This was a partial obstructed balcony cabin but it wasn't to us. We could see everything from the balcony.
The room was very quiet and in a good location.
Amsterdam was lovely. We took an open air canal ride and visited a street market.
We docked in an industrial port which was not very scenic. However we were pleasantly pleased once we got into the town of Aarhus. The people were very friendly and the town was lovely. Wifi was available at Starbucks.
Lovely old town, easy walking. Take the shuttle from the ship. Best place to buy things as the prices were good and the goods were of very good quality. They specialize in textiles. Buy from street vendors, their prices were much lower than stores for the same things.
Booked an off ship tour with TJ Travel. Our guide and driver were wonderful. We saw a lot in two days. Only 11 people on our brand new van. St Petersburg is the only stop where we had to show our passports once off the boat. We paid in US dollars.
Lovely city but rainy day. Lots of stores for shopping. We took a taxi off the boat. Paid 300 Kr going in and 200 coming back, so be careful of the taxi prices. Get a set price before you get in, don't take one that says price depends on the meter. We tried to ride the subway back to the boat but it wouldn't take our mastercard and they wouldn't take Euros.
Big city, lots of people. We were getting tired by the end of the cruise, should have stayed by the ship and walked down to the nearby shops and the little mermaid statue. But we took the shuttle into town then caught a sightseeing boat for $8.00. After half an hour, the boat made a stop where we couild see our ship, so we got off and walked back to the ship.
We should have taken an excursion here. Big city. We walked and walked and walked and really didn't see anything except a big mall.
