Cabin: Mid-Ship Balcony

Prior to this cruise I had been on just one other, which I had enjoyed so I was looking forward to a 14 day back-to-back cruise and NCL did not disappoint.

I'll start out by saying that I come from New Zealand and NCL markets cruising differently to if you're from the US, by that i mean our tickets included all gratuities and taxes so what was paid up front at the beginning of the cruise was all we paid. This included the cabin, a beverage package (unlimited wines and spirits under $15), a soft drink package (unlimited drinks) and some internet minutes (which we never used). With this in mind it makes for an extremely affordable vacation when you consider what a hotel will provide (no entertainment, a view that doesn't change and definitely not the food options) vs a cruise ship.

The cruise started in Vancouver and apart from expected rudeness from the US border control the embarkation of the vessel was easy and welcoming - some tacky balloons at the entrance but i'm told 'it's a cruise thing' - soon to be a well used phrase throughout the trip.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BB

The cabin was a mid-ship with balcony, at first it didn't seem too big and the thought of living in it for 14 days was daunting but it was actually perfect. There is a huge amount of storage space to unpack your bags - cupboards, shelves, hanging space, drawers, more shelves it's all there so if you run out of space then I'm sorry - you brought too much on your travels. The bed was actually amazingly comfortable and high enough to store your suitcase under it. There was an additional sofa/fold out bed but we didn't need to use it for sleeping on. The balcony was spacious and had a table and two chairs. Being the highest floor on the ship with a balcony gives a terrific view of the surroundings while cruising - stunning. The in room TV is locked down even though all it's connections are exposed, so if you're thinking of watching your own content or connecting a laptop to it etc. it will not work. Also, there is only one power point in the room so travel wisely with a multi board with USB ports to avoid tears. This is a 120v socket. The 240v socket in the room had an unfamiliar power point which we didn't have a device that would fit it. The shower is small but has all you need, the water pressure was excellent as well as the temperature too. A tiny basin and toilet all fit within the bathroom module but it worked for us and it's really sound proof too.

Our steward was great, cleaned and made up the room really efficiently and left the best towel art on the bed - such a cruise thing, but I thought it was great.

Fantastic tour of the city. Just what you need if you're not from the area.

An amazing park filled with many things to see, it's huge too with so many people making use of it.
