This was our 4th Carnival cruise, having previously been on the Conquest, Glory, and Freedom.
The Sunshine just doesn't hold up to those ships. As many have discussed, this ship really is too small for the amount of passengers. On port days you really don't notice as much, but on the sea days it becomes obvious. Certainly around things like lunch. There just isn't enough space for all the passengers essentially going to the same areas at the same time. Finding a place to sit is challenging, and if you were a large group, 6 or more, I would think you would normally be separated.
The food was only average. It certainly wasn't bad, but nothing great or memorable. You really notice the cost cutting that is going on. Very basic and simple. We only went to the main dining room once, as the food served in the dining room and the Lido Marketplace are exactly the same. Area's of the main dining room are also so packed in, you are sometimes inches from other tables. So, we found it to be more comfortable to just go to Lido. I know I am probably in the minority here, but the Main Dining Room concept is archaic. It just seems so outdated and in need of something new and modern.
This was the best thing about the cruise. This is a great room, and my wife and I both agree it's better than some balconies. Lot's of storage space and the huge window from ceiling to floor gives you great views.
