I have taken many cruises with Royal Carribean. We chose this cruise because it left out of Bayonne, New Jersey, which is only a 2 hour drive from our home. Driving to the port seemed much more convenient than air travel and transports and it was. Embarkation was a breeze there were representatives everywhere to assist you with check in. They do not let you in your cabin until 1:00 PM, so we found something to eat and then waited for doors to open so we could go to our cabin.
Ports of call to Bermuda, St. Maarten, San Juan and Labadee were places we wanted to visit. I had been all of the ports except Bermuda, and I wanted my daughter to experience Labadee. We took a mini bus to Horseshoe Bay $14.00 round trip. This is a beautiful beach where you can explore swim and relax. St. Maarten we did the Rino boat tour. This was a great excursion, you drive your own little boat and get to see the French side of the Island from the ocean. I had not been to San Juan in 17 years. Boy has that changed. The dock area is modern and all cleaned up! Our favorite port of call was Labadee, we did the Zip lining and it was great!
The skydiving simulator and the North Star were cool things to do onboard. The bionic bartenders were cool too. I booked these on line way in advance, so make sure you do this , or you will miss out. You cannot book these on the ship, as they are booked before they sail. We were offered by one get one for the speciality restaurants , you had to use it the first two nights. We went to Chops Grill our first night and Jamie's Italian the second. The service and food were delicious at both restaurants. We had my time seating the other nights which went well we made reservations in the morning for the restaurant we wanted to try that evening and it work out great. We tried the American Icon Grill our third night and was not disappointed. The food and service were great. When we went back at the end of the week the menu had changed :( disappointed ! The service was good, but the food was not hot and not enjoyable. So on our last night we went back to Jamie's and had a good, hot tasty meal.
Cabins are beautiful and spacious. Our room steward Ohan found us as soon as we got to our room and introduced himself. He was such a pleasure and no request was too big. He made us animals every night! They have plenty of storage I was impressed.
We drove to the port and parked our car. Great not to have to travel by plane.
Went to Horseshoe Bay. Beautiful beach.
We went to the Forts and walked around town and did some shopping.
Great zip line experience. Highly recommend this.
