Our second trip to the Baltic states and Scandinavia. Had many problems that guest relations worked hard to ameliorate but wished the problems had not occurred. A continuing problem on all our Celebrity cruises is my wife's no salt, vegetarian diet. It should not be such a problem to prepare meals without salt but with other spices. It usually takes a night or two to get this message to the kitchen, although we make the request upon booking. This cruise after 5 nights the problem was not solved. We had a meeting with the Executive chef, the dining room supervisor and a ships' officer. After that and a new Maitre'D, the meals improved.
The ship needs some renovation, especially in the theater. Many arm rests are broken and there are quite few seats that slope forward, too many overweight passengers, one can keep slipping watching the few good shows. The mentalist was especially poor and the magician used many "tricks" that one buys at a magic store, boring. The highlight was the St. Petersburg Super Stars, local group brought on while we were overnight there. Also Jayne Curry was great as usual. The production shows were the usual senseless formula shows that Celebrity continues to put on despite many poor reviews.
Food in the main dining room was generally good with the exception of some steaks that were very tough. As one table mate said,"good teeth" a must. Do NOT ever have a minute steak for lunch in the Oceanview cafe, inedible.
Very nice cabin, located on the sixth deck, convenient to everything. Partially obstructed view not a problem as the lifeboat is just BELOW the veranda. Nice and quiet.
Dirty city, only good for a day or two and do not look to closely but be careful where you walk as there are crazy bikes and all sorts of "stuff" on the sidewalks.
Nice clean compact city, Museum walk on roof an experience. Worth a walk around.
Great old town, quaint buildings, friendly residents, best prices on the cruise for shopping. Spend the entire day walking around and enjoying a wonderful place.
Second best stop on tour. Good shopping, old town, and friendly people.
