Elation = Great Joy!

Review for the Mexican Riviera Cruise on Carnival Elation

My wife and I had a weekend conference in San Diego, since we both had a week off we decided to book the four day cruise leaving on Sunday afternoon. We arrived at 2PM and were on the ship in a matter of 15 minutes. By this time most of the passengers had already boarded. We were able to go directly into our stateroom. We stayed in a penthouse suite which was wonderful. The stateroom was immaculate and well cared for. Our steward did a great job and we thank him. Since we like our privacy we enjoyed our balcony and spent many hours enjoying the ocean view. Now I must contradict a recent review about this ship. I found it to be immaculate thoughout the ship, my wife and I are fussy people. The dining room meals my not be supper club quality but for heaven sake's what do some people think! This is Carnival the fun ship, people are on this cruise to have fun and be with their families and friends the greatest things in life. If your looking for 5 star dining you are on the wrong cruise line, you then need to cruise on the luxury liners, which are more strict on the dress code I may add. Carnival does a excellent job, it's a affordable cruise line for many people to enjoy. Be thankful your able to be on a cruise and you have endless amounts of food on your plate in this economy. Other reviewers are not being blinded, they are enjoying their vacation on Carnival Elation. As for weather, Carnival can not control the weather, it's always cool in the San Diego area in April, you should know that if you will be choosing this cruise, bring a sweater and some slacks. Carnival can not control the swine flu or any other illness that may occur, they are cleaning the ship 24/7 and now have avoided going to Mexico until this illness has passed. Carnival does their best trying to make thousands of people happy, not a easy task.Our port stops were at Catalina Island which is a beautiful quiet port which we tendered to.  We rented a golf cart for three hours and during that time were only able to explore a small part of this island. If you want to see the entire island they do have island tours on buses which are available at the pier.Ensenada, Mexico we did the "Wine Country Tour" through the ship tours. If you enjoy seeing alittle of the countryside and wine appreciation you would enjoy this tour. We were lucky to have visited Mexico a few weeks pior to the swine flu scare. We enjoyed the entertainment, they did a wonderful job. This is a cruise, if you want a broadway production your in the wrong place. Getting off the ship was a breeze, we had time to tour the Midway aircraft carrier which is docked next to the Elation before our afternoon flight.We enjoyed our cruise and will cruise with Carnival again.
