We just got back today from a 14 day Panama Canal crossing. In typical Disney fashion, everything was well organized from the check in to the disembarkation. Nobody does it as well as Disney. The Wonder is heading to Spain tomorrow for a reimagine and overhaul.
We found the ship to be in very good shape, with one exception. Our A/C did not work. To their credit, Disney was very concerned about this. They sent Engineering to our room 4 times and finally offered us another room. They also provided a fan. Unfortunately the room they offered was directly (and I mean DIRECTLY) across from the 6th deck laundry. I also didn't notice much air coming out of the vents in that room, so we decided to stay with our original room. The fan made a huge difference and we were fairly comfortable. I feel sure that this issue will be addressed in the upcoming overhaul. It certainly needs to be! We were aft and our bank of elevators was extremely warm at all times. Even Palo had to keep their doors closed to combat the unrelenting heat.
We enjoyed 3 meals at Palo and all were absolutely delicious. We weren't very impressed with lunches in Triton dining room, but they were certainly adequate. The sandwiches in the Goofy Galley were the best lunch option on the ship, in our opinion. We had 2nd seating for dinner and got lucky in that most of our dining rotation seems to favor Triton. We liked that dining room the best, followed by Animators. Parrot Cay was our least favorite. We had an excellent dining team and had no complaints about them. The food wasn't as good as we had expected, thought it was adequate. Some meals were above average, others were just OK. By and large the food on the Wonder is somewhat better than other cruise food, but not stunning unless you are dining in Palo.
Our cabin didn't have adequate A/C. All other aspects of the cabin were great, but the lack of air was irritating. I'm sure this will be addressed in the overhaul.
The coaches were very nice. It was HOT. The guide directed us to a good place to buy Columbian emeralds.
It's fun to shop for jewelry. Wish there were more places to have lunch in A/C.
The guide on our tour was outstanding! The coaches were cool and comfortable. The areas that were visited were inland and quite interesting.
Go to a small bar called Monkey Business for the best margs in the world!
We spent an afternoon in Coronado and thoroughly enjoyed it.
