We chose this cruise because it came highly recommended by friends and family over the years. We opted to have the cruise company book our air, as we were traveling a fair distance and wanted to make sure we made the sailing time. Everything was handled by Princess once we were through baggage claim and cleared customs in Van Couver. When we went from sea to land, our luggage was taken by truck to the next destination, so there was no bag schlepping between hotels or to and from the airport. We enjoyed the cruise with our own covered balcony, so rain was not an issue. The weather was excellent most of the trip, including in Denali Park and Whitney Lodge, where we were able to see "the mountain", Denali, for 4 days. We booked our excursions ahead of time, on line, which saved us 10%. On the cruise, our waiter, Michael from Manila and our junior waiter, Jugoslav from Serbia were excellent, and although we had anytime dining, we requested to sit at one of their tables. We also appreciated Claudio's help in the dining room. The train ride from Whittier to Denali is 9+ hours, so bring a book and snacks because food is pricey on the train. Once we were off the ship, food was not included, so we ate in restaurants. Food in Alaska is very expensive, so if you bring a few snacks from home, that helps. Everyone on land and sea was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this trip and using the Princess line. Every trip week took off the ship and later on land was excellent. Could write a book. Might even move to Alaska. It is like a trip back in time.
