Sail Date: Aug 2016
Cabin: Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Many previous reviews have been extremely negative and in some cases completely unfair, however each passenger has a different experience or point of view. Thankfully I have come off the ship having had a fantastic weeks cruise in Norway.

Firstly this was a very different cruise to a 14 night Med cruise so no sun bed issues (we were not blessed with sunshine) and the clientele probably differ to the sun seekers. My biggest concern was the complaints of badly behaved kids but I think there were a lot less kids on this cruise and I witnessed no bad behavior at all. The other big complaint is that the ship is run down but to be honest I disagree. I first sailed the Navigator in 2007 and it’s just as nice now as it was then.

Check in was quick and smooth and we were on the ship by midday. I was expecting a bit of madness in the Windjammer that day and that’s exactly what I got, however we managed to get a table fairly quickly and was able to escape to the cabin at 1330hrs.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E3

Our cabin was one of the new additional balcony cabins on deck 12 and was everything I expected. The bed was comfy, had a nice size balcony and was spotlessly clean. Location was great for the Solarium, spa, pool area, gym and bar. I do have a few negatives though. On the first night we had high wind and were woken about 3am to the clanging of sunbeds being tossed around above us. Quick stop at the guest relations desk the next morning and they had them piled up and secured by that afternoon. Very impressed by the speedy action!!

The other problem was the plumbing, on three occasions the flush stopped working and one morning we had yellow water coming out of the taps and shower… lovely! Also walls are paper thin, so I got to know the people either side of us better than I would have liked!

Port Reviews

Bergen

Probably a nice place to wander around but it was so wet and miserable when we were there we did not stay off the ship for long. RCL seem to dock at the furthest point away from town where you have to get a shuttle bus. Costa nnd MSC both had ships in that day and were much closer.

What a beautiful place! We took the railway up to the top of the mountain, picked up our pre hired bikes and cycled back to the ship through some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe. This was by far the highlight of the week!

I highly recommend pre booking both the train and the bikes. There were a lot of disappointed people at station that morning.

Stavanger

Very cute port with lots of history. The ship docks right in the center so the old town is just a few mins walk away. We went to the Sardine Museum which was really interesting. This also gave us free entry to the Maritime Museum, again very interesting. Finally we went to the Petroleum museum but by this time I was a bit over museums and did not enjoy it as much as the others, however it is done very well.

Lovely place to stroll around.
