This being our first cruise both my husband and myself were very hesitant about whether we would enjoy the whole experience, however, we shouldn't have been, it was fantastic! We flew to Venice and were met at the airport and taken to our own private water taxi. The lady who met us, escorted us in the taxi giving us plenty of information along the way, the following day again another private water taxi took us to the port. Embarkation was smooth, well organised and easy. Our first impressions of the ship were very good. We had a forward cabin with a balcony on deck 9. We had read reviews that storage was a problem, however, we thought there was plenty of storage space and after unpacking still had empty drawers! The cabin was perfectly adequate, clean and well designed. We were also surprised as to how quiet it was, we never heard our 'neighbours'. For us the ship was a perfect size, not massive but big enough. Found our way around easily and everything was well laid out. For the first few nights we went to the main dining room in the evening, we never had to wait and we were very well looked after by the waiting staff. The food was always excellent. However, where we enjoyed eating most of all was on deck 10 at the Oceanview Cafe and Grill. The food choice was fantastic and never a bum fight for food. We would always eat outside at the back of the ship and whiled away many lunchtimes and evenings enjoying the view. Entertainment on board was very varied, however, we weren't that keen on the duo who were a little sickly sweet for us! We went on four shore excursions and found them to be well organised and value for money the only one that was not so good was the trip to Olympia. Olympia itself was very good but we really struggled to understand the guide. It was also quite unfortunate that the coach trip to Olympia was marred by the unbelievable amounts of rubbish that had been dumped at the sides of the roads. We are talking serious amounts of bin bags, some piles were 80m long by 3m deep by 2m high! Service on board was excellent, all the staff were fantastic, polite, friendly and knowledgable. Disembarkation was also very smooth and well organised, we were taken to our hotel in Rome and met by the Celebrity rep who helped us with booking in etc. The following day the rep informed us of our departure time from the hotel (by taxi) and we were accompanied all the way in the taxi, check in and right up to the security check point in Rome airport by yet another rep. Fantastically well organised. This may have been our first cruise but it definitely won't be our last. We plan to go again in 2018 and wouldn't hesitate to go on Constellation again. All in all fabulous.

Port Reviews

Venice

Had an extra night in Venice so made our own way around. Fabulous.

Kusadasi

Hassled from the moment you entered the bazaar to the moment you left!

Malta (Valletta)

Love Malta...so much to see and having relatives there made it great for us. One tip don't use the "Hop on Hop off bus" you will be taking your life in your hands. You will be better off using the regular buses.
