We'd cruised on Oasis of the Seas twice previously, as recently as a year ago (plus once on Allure of the Seas, of a total of 51 cruises). For this trip, we wanted a simple Caribbean cruise that didn't have multiple days at sea in a row. Oasis of the Seas met our requirements, even though we'd visited each of the ports many times in the past.
Boarding was simple. The design of the terminal is excellent. However, there were some passengers who had not pre-printed their SailPass and had to wait in a longer line. Don't leave home without yours.
Our experience was much better than we expected. The passengers were a diverse collection of nationalities, in many cases multi-generational, and laid back. There were no kids running amok, no dramas and no loud drinking groups.
Standard balcony cabin with a few exceptions. First, it's under the overhang from deck 15. This means you're always in the shade (which was fine for us). Don't worry about noise from deck 15, as we heard none. Second, the view to the left and right is a bit reduced due to a triangular deck support. This isn't a problem for views forward and down as well as backwards and down. But you won't be able to see forward or back along the same deck (14). Again, not a problem for us. Third, the bed is located parallel to and very near the sliding closet doors. This makes it a bit tough to access clothes hanging on the far side of the closet. Not a problem, but not as convenient as similar cabins where the bed is near the balcony, not near the closet.
Spent a great day at Paradise Beach club. Beach only so-so, swimming pool is wonderful. We've tried others, plus walked around town, but this is the best way to spend a day.
Find the beach / area that suits you best. We like the quiet and nice cove at Nellies Beach.
