We love Princess and have never traveled on any other cruise line but it is time to update the Grand. The crew and staff were wonderful and I would give them 5 stars. A lot of buckets all around the boat. The food in the dining room was okay, but on a cruise to Alaska why all the beef? I expected more seafood options.

Of course after taking the ultimate ships tour I found out why. All provisions come from California. If you get a chance to take it I recommend it, but you need to be in reasonable shape. It is 3 hours on your feet and walking from back to front up and down multiple floors. I received a lovely package of gifts wrapped in a ribbon, a deluxe robe that is 95.00 in the boutique, an apron, writing pad with my name and the ships name, photographs with the crew and captain and a silver plated frame 8x10. The only thing I would change is for the photographer to not talk during the crew presentations because with all the noise from the machines it was hard to hear and it was just rude. She was talking to the crew member that conducted the tour.

What about Alaska? It was beautiful but we didn't see much wildlife, but we didn't take any excursions to view wildlife. There were 5 ships in every port except Icy Strait Point. We did the ziprider and I would do it again and again. Ketchikan and Juneau filled with people. We did the Saxman Village tour and it was very informative, loved seeing the children learning their heritage. We went to Mendenhall glacier and it will be gone in 15 years. The Juneau rainforest gardens were beautiful and Jeff and Jane were excellent hosts. Butchart gardens in Victoria was a sight to see but alot of walking. We weren't in port long enough to see anything else, but we were told that Victoria is to become a embarkation port so the ships will be there longer.

The bed we had was shot, even with a mattress topper it was very difficult to move in the morning. Our toliet only worked 75 percent of the time. The carpet was frayed and it was so noisy in our room. Now this is the first time we had an interior room so maybe that was the issue because the back wall were the bed was there was alot of banging probably a crew door. A couple of times walking down the hallway there was a terrible sewer smell. There was a picture in our room that rattled. They had tried to fix it with double sided tape but the stickyness had worn off. A couple of pieces of wrapped tissue took care of it.
