We were of a family of 15 taking this cruise to Bermuda. We were excited for all of the activities and things to do on the ship. We were definitely not fully informed before we left! Getting on the ship was relatively easy and from entering the terminal to getting to our room took about an hour. There are a lot of elevators on the ship, but during busy times, you may wait up to 20 minutes for an elevator. Often passengers squeezed on like sardines...so you had to wait for the next one. My biggest piece of advice...AS SOON AS YOU GET ON THE SHIP RESERVE YOUR ACTIVITIES. We waited until the first night to book the activities...we really wanted to do Northstar, Ripcord, and Circus school. By the time we went to book, everything was booked already! They told us we could go as stand-by and wait in line, but the lines were all extremely long. One woman told me she waited 2 hours to get on the bumper cars...who wants to take 2 hours of vacation time to wait on line?
Speaking of lines, this is my second complaint; they were EVERYWHERE!! Lines to get towels, lines to get drinks, food, even ice cream. This ship was packed! Be prepared to wait, wait, wait! One morning I wanted an omelette at the omelette station at Windjammer and finally gave up after waiting more than 20 minutes. My daughter wanted ice cream, and we waited about 15 minutes for that. The main pool is surprisingly small given the # of passengers on board. With thousands of people on the ship, you would think they would have made the pools larger. Forget about getting a lounge chair near the pool, unless you get to the pool area by 7AM to put a towel down (even though you're not supposed to). We got a chair on deck 15, one flight above the pool, and were overjoyed we could at least sit down. My 6 year old enjoyed the wave pool and the circular small pool and spent most of her time there.
The food is average....mass produced food for masses of people. The dinners were good, but nothing spectacular like one who have hoped. The childrens menu was the same every day with very basic choices. The Windjammer had a huge selection of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner and if you don't mind searching out a table, I'd suggest eating most of your meals there. The best part of our vacation was being together and visiting Bermuda. I would probably not go on Anthem again; instead I'd choose a smaller ship.
Cabin was nice and clean. A little on the small side. Good storage space.
Snorkel Beach is about a 10 minute walk from the ship. It's good for little kids. We went snorkeling there and saw some fish. They also have a restaurant, bathrooms, a playground and inflatables for the kids to play on. We also went to horseshoe bay beach which was beautiful.
