We chose the cruise for the ports of call and also it allowed us to add a stay in Singapore which we enjoy. Boarding was reasonable after filling out a heap of forms and then waiting in a holding area but overall about an hour to get on board. We have been on Volendam so were somewhat familiar with the layout of the ship albeit that it has been extensively renovated. The facilities are very good and of high quality but many areas not practical for older people, i.e. low seating with no back etc. Food variety was pretty good however it always looked better than it tasted in the pantry, I suppose for the mainly aussie customers. Waterfront restaurant was very good, food also very good however very small portions.

We have had over 30 cruises on many different lines and are diamond plus on RCL, so that is our line of choice. There were many things on Eden that dis not suit us BUT does suit the target market for the ship so i get that. No tea and coffee making facilities in balcony cabins, very expensive beverage packages but i understand why, small chairs and very small table on balcony, poor quality entertainment and lack of it around the ship.

The biggest dislike for us was the staff, they are generally poorly trained, most are in slow motion, there is no interaction with customers many do not even make eye contact when taking an order or delivering an order and they were dirty all black uniforms. Again all this seemed to be fine for most of the other passengers so the ship will do well servicing the aussie market, its just not for us. Interesting fact was that this cruise was a 7 night Singapore and back to Singapore cruise and it was almost ALL aussies on board, that was a surprise.
