Fun but not a fantastic ship. Kids activities are more limited than advertised.

The cruise was basically enjoyable. I have little experience with cruises and do not have extraordinarily high standards so I am not sure how useful my review will be to many people but I had fun.

I am told the Empress of the Seas is a small ship. I did not feel cramped or anything like that but could believe that the range of activities was not as large as on other ships but there was enough and I was happy enough to spend time with family and relax on the sea days.

The food was pretty good and the servers and dining room management were very good with service, offering occasional extras, and especially in assisting members of our party with food ingredient restrictions.

Cabin Review

Cabin 4th Deck External

Small but nice enough. They do a pretty good job with the space and the fold-down bed worked well for a child. There should be outlets near the head of the bed but many hotels get that wrong, too. The bathroom lock was broken such that someone could get trapped inside and that was never fixed, despite our reporting it. The water in the shower was never more than lukewarm.

Port Reviews

Key West

The Truman Little White House is very interesting and well worth a trip. It is five minutes walking (if that) from the port.
