We decided to go on an Alaska cruise a few months ahead of time and chose Norwegian cruise line because of the freestyle dining. We had bee on a cruise before where we were told where and when to eat and did not enjoy it. NCL was great with the flexibility. We are average people so fancy restaurants and getting dressed up is really not our thing. We prefer a quick bite and move on - no getting all fancied up.

We traveled with our 2 kids age 10 and 13, both boys. With the suite we had plenty of room for everyone and everything - sure more storage would have been great but it was fine.

I highly recommend a balcony cabin with an Alaska cruise - there are so many beautiful things to see while cruising that it was nice to wake up and see the land and wild animals.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MB

We stayed in a Mini Suite - cabin 11610. I had read some bad reviews about this cabin but we loved it. Our room steward Roberto Carlos was wonderful. The room was always clean and well stocked. It was on Deck 11 which was ideal because we could quickly run up to the buffet to get a quick snack, coffee or other beverage. It was also really close to the pool so if you want to run back and forth it was really convenient. There was a bit of noise from the buffet upstairs but not bad, we have been in worse hotel rooms with people running outside or yelling. I would recommend it.

Port Reviews

Ketchikan

While in Ketchikan we just walked around the town, it is really lovely. We enjoyed the freedom of seeing the sites on our own - very manageable.

Victoria

We just walked around Victoria - it was lovely, but nothing that great. Walked to Chinatown - neat to see but you could skip it, not very big.
