This was my fourth cruise with Royal Caribbean and the first with a ship the size of the Freedom of the Seas. It was an incredible experience. First, having sailed on both Carnival and Celebrity, I am always amazed at how efficient the embarkation process is with RC. We were on the ship within an hour of arriving at the port.
Since there were 3 of us in a cabin, the room was a bit cramped but there was actually more room than I expected. If there are 3 or more people in the room, though, and you can afford the additional expense, I would suggest a larger room, either a balcony or junior suite.
The staff on the RC ships always are impressive and the crew on the Freedom were exemplary. Our cabin steward was a very friendly, caring gentleman who took the time to talk with my kids and I as well as provided some excellent advice when my youngest became seasick one night.
A bit small, but bigger than I expected. When we first checked in the top bunk had not been lowered so I was a bit taken aback that 3 people would share one bed
Port Canaveral is a bit of a seedy place, best to spend as little time there as possible
This was not part of our originally schedule itinerary as we were diverted here because of inclement weather. Honestly, I hated this port. The vendors were all very aggressive, we were unable to get to the beach because of construction, and there was little to do here. Avoid this place
I visited Cozumel many years ago and was surprised at how much it has grown over time. My kids were able to snorkel in a couple of areas right off the beach, we ate at Senor Frog's which is always fun and lively, and there were some cool shops right off the dock. This was much better than I expected
