Sail Date: Jul 2016
Cabin: Mini-Suite with Balcony

The Pacific Princess is the smallest, 670 passenger, ship at Princess. That is our favorite size ship. We booked a mini-suite cabin 8002 that had plenty of room, especially closet and storage space. Food quality was above average with no open-dining option. The waiter and his assistant were efficient, but not overly friendly. Otherwise service was above average. We found the dance/ song show was excellent for such a small ship.

There were only two sea days out of 14, but the weather was horrendous as we suffered through two low-pressure fronts and 25' waves. The trip to Galway via west coast of Ireland was cancelled as we sailed up the east coast to Belfast instead. It rained in Waterford, Belfast, Derry, Ullapool, and Edinburgh. The crown excursion was for the Edinburgh Tattoo, but that involved 4 hours of heavy rain. Excursions were well organized and not too expensive; although in Ullapool the Knacht Craig tour was too difficult for many passengers (but I enjoyed it). Our all-day tour to Colloden in Invergorden was cancelled as bad weather caused a late arrival. We were able to hire a taxi for that tour. My major problem was with outside shuttle service as we often were berthed in remote areas. The excursion briefings were all online. The Captain gave frequent updates on the weather and his corrections. The fitness instructor was awol and a replacement showed up on DAY 6. The ports were all exciting and a reason why we selected this voyage.
