We wanted to take our entire family on a cruise to be together for a week. We took our 80 year old parents, two adult children & spouses and 6 grandchildren on the Carnival Magic to the Mexican Riviera in late August. We don't cruise very often on Carnival and now I know why. The boarding process was an absolute mess, waited in line for hours to get on the ship. When we were finally on the ship there were lines for everything everyday at all times and places. Getting off the ship was even worse, we waited in a line for an hour while one (1) security guard punched every passengers card one at a time. The parking garage at Long Beach is a total nightmare as well. We docked at 7:30 a.m. and I finally got out of the parking garage at 11:30 a.m. and we started our walk off the ship at 9:00 - even before we were called. The dining room was great, good service and good food, however, they managed to have a line to get in as they did everywhere. The ship is older and needs some updating but is clean although they like to do maintenance on the pool, the deck, or wash the windows at the most inopportune times (they elected to do maintenance on the pool the day before we ported on Puerto Vallarta instead of waiting one day when most people were off the ship). Entertainment was good but they seem to be able to find a venue that could handle the number of people that wanted to attend. People standing in the isles was very common late in a performance. Overall, more negatives than positives to this cruise.

Cabin Review

Cabin 7C

Cabin was fine, clean about average size. Only had cabin attendant once per day - he asked us first day if we wanted morning or afternoon service. Balcony was small with two chairs.
