We had a great cruise on the Empress of the Seas.

The ship is a smaller vessel (the smallest in the Royal Caribbean fleet), but it was exactly what we were looking for. As it is a smaller ship and an older ship, it does not have some of the amenities of the larger ships, but what is there is nice. The rooms on the ship are also smaller than the larger ships. We usually stay in either a Grand Suite or Junior Suite on Royal Caribbean ships, but this ship did not have the Grand Suite category. It had Junior Suites and then jumped directly to Owner's Suite, which is what we stayed in. The room was probably about the size of a Junior Suite on the Voyager or Oasis class ships, but it was nice, clean, comfortable and had a very large and private balcony. From our observations of Junior Suites we walked by, they are about the size of a balcony room on other ships, but they also looked updated.

The theater on the ship is more of a lounge style theater instead of the stadium seating on the newer ships, but we found it comfortable and easy to see. The quality of the orchestra, ship's entertainment and headliners was top-notch and we enjoyed the shows.

Cabin Review

Cabin Owner's Suite

On the Empress, it was an Owner's Suite, but size-wise, on most other Royal ships it would be between a Junior and Grand suite. It was at the front of the ship with a large, private balcony. The balcony had 2 lounge chairs and a table with 4 chairs.
