I went as part of a dance group from Victoria BC and this was my first ever cruise. Overall I'm glad I went but I don't think cruising is a perferable vacation method for me.
Other than the staff at 'Guest Services' who were downright rude, the rest of the staff was great. They would greet you in the public areas with a smile, our room attendent was super friendly as was the wait staff in the dining room.
I found the ship itself bordering between clean and spotless. The overall state showed a little wear and tear but not much. The dance floors in the Safari Club and Vortex Night Club were pretty sticky which made ballroom a bit tricky. The Centrum dance floor was great but hard (no give).
I booked late and went with a guy from our group who was looking for a roommate. He had reserved an inside cabin and I was cool with that thinking the darkness would help me sleep. The cabin was fine in all respects EXCEPT the air quality. My roommate and I were immediately stuffed up with super dry and sore throats. This affliction was remedied within a couple days of leaving the ship. I don't know if it was just the dry air or if there was mold in the HVAC system but it was awful. Towards the end of the voyage I hung wet towels in from of the vent with little improvement to our suffering.
Prior to going on this inaguaral cruise I'd already booked a second one this December on the Celebrity Millenium from Singapor to Hong Kong. This cabin has a balcony and I'll be bringing a piece of wood to jam the door open.
Neat little medival part of town. Had a great meal - thank you Rick Steves for the recommendation!
Great little city. Of the four we were supposed to visit (had to skip Stockholm) this was the one I was indifferent to. Couldn't be more wrong. Clean, beautiful, comfortable, walkable, just a really neat little city. Wish we had more timie there.
Got there 3 days prior to sailing. Great city but stupid expensive.
