We chose this cruise as we had family visitors and wanted to combine a cruise with a stay in Charleston.
Compared to Port Canaveral, this port is slightly more disorganized. I suspect that there is not enough cruise passenger volume to invest in proper embarkation infrastructure. At the end that is OK, as one can go through two hours of waiting/process. If one wants to avoid a two hour process, the suggestion is to go really early (10.30 am) or late (after 2 pm).
This cruise ship is relatively old (1991), but she is holding on well for the years of service. The age factor does not impact the overall services, the cabin's and public areas' cleanliness, the food service and quality, entertainment, etc. All are comparable to other cruise lines/ships. One area that needs maintenance or an upgrade are the elevators. Some of the elevators we used did not work properly. On a positive note, we used the stairs more often as a result of this.
Cabin was clean, service was great, personnel attending the room were super friendly.
Best beach I visited in my life. Next time I might try to tour the island.
Visit the city, hang around, and visit the farmers' market
