We chose this cruise because I have always wanted to see Alaska, and we were visiting family in Canada prior to this cruise, so it worked out well destination wise. We had a great cruise. The ship was lovely, we had a mid ship balcony cabin 9253, for 2 of us plus our teenage son. Yes, it was a bit tight with all our luggage and clothing but we made it work. The shower curtain was not a problem, it stayed in the shower and the floor was dry. We brought extension cords and even a surge protector so we had plenty of outlets, that was a great tip we read. As for the smell that some people are mentioning, honestly we never smelled anything. We never even heard people talking about the smells. Yes, I had read all about it on the forums and was worried but we didn't smell anything off and we did go all over the ship many times.

The ship was at full occupancy around 1900 people but there was never a wait at a restaurant or a bar, we were served right away, always able to find a seat somewhere. Lots of fun places to explore on the ship, I know people say its so small but honestly it didn't seem small to us. We had the UBP and the 3 night SDP. We ate at Teppanyaki, La Cucina and Cagney's. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was elegant. We had so much fun! Other times, we ate in one of the MDRs. No problems there at all, the wait staff were great, very polite and helpful, they had multiple choices differing each day and the food was tasty. Yes, some portions very small but you can order more then one and I never managed to finish a dish! We tried the pasta/pizza station for lunch one day and it was good. Same for the Sports bar - the food was very good there, Tapas the food was so so but the Sangria was the best. The buffet we only had 2 times for an early breakfast and for that it was fine. One time we went for a snack late night and it wasn't bad - different options, plenty to choose from. For the people complaining about the buffet, so why eat there after the first time you were disappointed, go to the MDR's, at least one was always open and there was never a wait. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly.

The activities were so much fun, we loved the cruise director Ian and his staff. We had a great time playing bingo, the game shows were awesome, my 13 year old even won one night and he was so happy! Then he was chosen to help Kristen bake a cake against Ian and he LOVED it so much. We tried to participate as much as we could, with 4 ports during the week, we were out all day so we were pretty tired at night! The shows were fun, and we always had a good time hanging out with new friends. I will say that with this cruise the ship activities are in no way important and shouldn't be - you are going on the cruise to see the glaciers and the ports. If you have fun doing cruise activities, that's an added plus. 2 days at sea was more then enough time for us and we still had things we missed because we were so busy!
