We choose this cruise at the last minute, well only 6 weeks prior to cruising. We were on the Crown Princess because there were 2 cabins, a balcony and an interior across the hall from each other which was a requirement since we were taking our grandsons on their graduation cruise. This was our 4th cruise on Princess and did not meet the standard of our previous experience on the line.
Dining room for breakfast was not good. We ate at the Horizon Court, which is very unusual for my wife, most days. Crown Grill was not worth the premium, Sabbatinis was. Lunch and dinner in the dining rooms was okay, but not quite up to what we remembered from previous cruises. My grandsons enjoyed all the food options and were rarely disappointed with what they ordered. The Tradewinds cafe in the plaza is a great place for a quick snack. Pizza and burgers on the Lido deck were as expected.
Didn't go to any any shows, grandsons went to Movie Under the Stars every night raining or not.
This is a forward cabin on the Caribe deck. It has a larger balcony than on the other decks. It was rainy for 5 of the 7 days we were on board, the balcony was usable most of the time.
40 knot winds and 15 foot seas on the first sea day proved that there is more motion forward than midships. 2 of our party were affected with motion sickness. Nice to see Bonine in the ship's store so we could replenish our supply.
Cabin was a standard Princess configuration, neither better nor worse than expected. Linens, towels, etc were serviceable, but not exceptional.
Our Cabin Steward Karen was a gem, best ever for friendliness and good humor.
A lot of fun.
Walking is the thing to do in Ketchikan.
