I never in a million years, imagined I would be writing something online. I have never even written a letter of complaint before because I have tried to give people the benefit of the doubt, and I've tried very hard to remain balanced and fair.  However, my recent experience dealing with Carnival Corporation on their new and biggest ship, the Splendor, has left me feeling VERY frustrated and upset.  So, for the first time in my life, I am speaking up because my conscience is motivating me to tell the truth, from my viewpoint.     I have never been on a Carnival cruise ship before.  I was excited to try a different cruise line a new adventure!  The ports we were to visit in Mexico seemed really fun and interesting.  Little did I know, as we boarded the ship, and the loudspeaker was blaring out the music from the "Titanic" movie, how prophetic it would come to be.Yes, ladies and gentlemen, when I compare my experience of Carnival Cruises to the "Titanic" incident, I feel I'm not too far off.How do you feel about spending several days and nights in a smoky, dark, atmosphere, with very bright neon lights, and, of course, my "favorite" color PUKEY PINK! everywhere you turn.  You can't even escape it in the privacy of your own bathroom.  But at least there, it seems appropriate, especially if you've indulged in one too many tropical drinks that you've had to mortgage your house to buy. Let's move on to getting around the ship.  The layout is very fun to figure out, even more so if you've spent the past few years in a lab training lab rats to run through a maze.  I bet the rat could find its way around the ship faster than I could, especially, because, my head usually hurt from sleeping on the hard pillows, and, of course, the EVER-present smoke.Oh well, at least there's always lots of available food.  When I wasn't spending my time waiting in line, getting hungrier by the minute, I was moving like a pinball inside a pinball machine, going from point "A" to point "W", back to point "C", then down to "G", pass "GO", get "Out of Jail", and then, FINALLY, after several tries and burning myself in the process, I found a few drops of precious "brown gold" COFFEE! only to have the 2 machines I could get to, "run out".  By this time, I would have been "giddy" just to have offered a few drops of dirty bath water.Oh yeah, let's not forget the exhilarating experience of meeting new people.  Who needed a "Battle of the Sexes" show over at the Theatre?  All they had to do was show up at dinner time to a small table next to some central trash cans, to see an even BIGGER spectacle. When one of the couples at my assigned table wasn't talking our heads off, or complaining about Carnival cruise lines, they were demonstrating lots of perfect examples why, sometimes, marriage can be a very BAD idea. And, as if our tables' nightly embarrassment wasn't enough, our servers, though trying very hard, always seemed rushed with, obviously, too many tables to cover.  Consequently, I probably would have had better service from a chimp wearing a tuxedo. But, wait it gets even better.  That was only the first 2 1/2 days.  On day 3, the captain made a courageous, and I truly believe, a very correct decision to adhere to the CDC recommendation not to disembark in Mexico due to the swine flu epidemic currently occurring there.  I applaud the captains' decision.  It was not his fault.Truth is, I am writing for ONE simple reason.  I could have put up with decor that made me think it was designed by a 13 year old on a acid trip.  I could have put up with the sub-par food, the battling husband and wife, the smoke, EVEN with NOT seeing the scheduled ports. What I believe is unfair, inconsiderate, downright greedy and selfish, is the fact that although our cruise being interrupted was not Carnivals' fault, NEITHER was it the passengers fault.  Yet we are the ones bearing the financial brunt of this disaster.  We received a letter stating this was unprecedented event and that Carnival cares about the welfare of its' customers.  But it seems to me when I called them about this, Carnival Corp. is hiding behind their "policies", truly the ESSENCE of corporate HYPOCRISY.  Carnival Corporation makes MILLIONS , if not, BILLIONS, off their passengers. If Carnival really cares as THEY claim to, then, WHY, are the passengers the ONLY ones to pay for this unfortunate event?  I guess because these large corporations tend to have plenty of money, thanks to their customers, to pay legions of clever lawyers to back up their policies. This is my first experience with Carnival Corporation and it seems pretty obvious to me that Carnival acts as if they care more about their "policies", and, their "bottom line" PROFITS, than they do about their customers who, after all, keep them in business.Let's be logical.  If Carnival seems unwilling to think outside the "box" of their policies, if they are currently refusing to extend a helping hand to their customers out of a sense decent, moral fairness, then WHAT does it say about this company?I work very hard to make a living.  Carnival Corporation needs to PROVE to me that they deserve every penny I give them.  How can I trust them?  The only feeling I have now about my contact with Carnival Corporation is the most PROFOUND and deepest REGRET  that I ever chose to get on one of their ships.I have NEVER, I repeat, I have NEVER, felt this way about any other cruise line, or, in fact, any other business I have dealt with.  It appears I was being naive to trust Carnival Corporation.  This is, honestly, the very first time I have felt that my trust in a company has been perhaps, IRREVERSIBLY, betrayed. My conscience won't allow me to even think about recommending Carnival Corporation to ANYONE, at this point.  Customers are the CORE of any business.  Apparently, Carnival Corporation has forgotten that, IF, they ever truly believed that.A companys' reputation is PRICELESS.  If Carnival Corporation insists on risking their reputation by, apparently, not being willing to bend their hard line well, DO THE MATH!  Carnival Corporation will lose a lot more money in the long term because, above all else, a customers trust MUST be earned.  Their reputation may then be tarnished PERMANENTLY.After my first experience with Carnival Cruises, I feel badly burnt.  I have seen, for myself, their seeming indifference to their customers feelings and their unwillingness to be fair and bend.  How would you feel? The only bright, shining stars were my cabin attendants, Desra, and Jason.  I actually recommended they go work for another cruise line.  God help them!  God help you if you ever decide to take a Carnival cruise.  Thank you for your attention.
