We were guided to this cruise to Alaska through the Inside Passage on the Noordam by Peter at Discount Cruises. The occasion was our 44th wedding anniversary combined with my husbands 50th class reunion. Four classmates and their wives from India joined us. Peter arranged everything so that we were living next door to each other in beautiful balcony rooms, sitting together for our evening meals for 7 days and during the land portion of our trip to Denali and on to Anchorage, staying together on the train, bus, and in the hotel before our departure. Holland-America was over-the-top accommodating, kind, and efficient. We never wanted for anything. When our toilet stopped working, the steward fixed it immediately and we received a follow-up apology. We were amazed. The food was delicious whether we were eating at the Lido or in the dining room. The entertainment in the evening in various places brought us together in a different way. We danced and sang and enjoyed each night's events. In Denalli, we saw wildlife up close, including a mother moose with her young just outside the window of the Visitor's Center, a grizzly that stood up and began walking toward our bus. Leaving Denali for Anchorage by the Holland-America dome train was such a fabulous ending to our journey with great food, excellent commentary on the history of what we were seeing. All in all, our 11 days on this cruise/land journey was so memorable. We want to take another Holland-America cruise, perhaps to New Zealand.
We had a king bed with a balcony view on the starboard side so we could enjoy the rain forest, the towns where we visited and Glacier Bay. We loved every minute.
