We chose this cruise because we wanted to see Bermuda. We normally cruise on Princess and thought ok new cruise line, new place and new type of cruise with it staying in 1 port for 3 days. Summit does show her age but that didnt ruin our cruise, but what did make it a bit annoying was laying out on the promenade deck on a cushy lounger and workers hosing off the deck and spraying us with water...we finally left..nothing was blocked off and it should have been or perhaps have this done when guests are sleeping as we use that area. Boarding was a breeze, but I do wish we could have at least dropped our carryons...it makes it such a hassle to carry them around with everyone else carrying theirs and now we are having to get around all the luggage. We had an oceanview room which was nice as we normally do an inside but booked a deal and got the oceanview. The buffet was ok, this is where i feel Princess does better with more options. But we did not starve. The MDR was good. We had assigned dining at 6pm each night. The beginning of the cruise the service and menu was wonderful. But it seemed as the the head waiter seemed to lose steam as the cruise went on. One night we were given an excuse as to why my DH steak was not cooked as he ordered and then when I asked if I could add something to a salad I was told that the plates need to come out per the menu as that how the chef likes it. i have never been told no when I asked for something special in the MDR...so this was a shock to me especially since I was told that Celebrity is to be a step up from Princess. We found some great spots to lounge that made it felt like we were all alone. The singes and dancers were good. Imagic was ok...expected a bit more the comedians were great though. I did like that Celebrity had a bit more options of salads at dinner and then you had 3 options of dressings, where princess gives you the dressing assigned to the salad. So overall with all the pluses and minuses they even out and we would do celebrity again. I would for sure pick a different cabin only for the noise in the am from the staff...too bad I cant get away from the rude guests who walk down the hallway shouting at each other as they wander down to their room. But that is on the people not the ship. We had a great time with a little off times but nothing that would ruin our time...it was a blip and we moved on.
Our cabin was nice enjoyed being able to see outside and watched sailaway from the comfort of our room and were able to get natural light in. Cabin is near open space so the stewards would set their stuff up right in front of our door so early in the am i could hear them getting ready to clean the rooms...and about 9 out of 10 times we came out of our room their cart was right in front of our door.
Cape liberty was a very efficient port...we were in and out very fast.
