Our first cruise to Alaska was certainly memorable. First time with Celebrity. The ship is very clean though there are signs of age. We had a balcony cabin on the starboard side, room 7014. The cabin was nice with plenty of room for me and my wife; plenty of drawers and closet space. Bathroom was small as expected but functional. Decent shower pressure. The beds were comfortable, put together as a king and made up twice a day. The balcony was a nice size for the two of us though it was set back, not exactly on the edge of the ship as is the cabins just below us. This comes in handy if it's raining (which it rarely did), but not as great for taking pictures. Still we enjoyed lying in bed at times looking at the scenery. I definitely recommend a balcony cabin for this trip. The TV: A good interactive feature where you can review your account, view shore excursions, preview port info, etc. It also had a few outside channels like CNN, ESPN, other cable networks. We didn't bother with the honor bar. One note: only two open outlets near the desk so charging electronics might be limited.

The ship itself is fairly large but not overcrowded. On deck 10 the pools, which are heated, were frequently in use; hot tubs always full. Along with plenty of lounge chairs, there was also bed-type seating for a really relaxing experience. Deck 12 in the rear (aft), was a large TV where we viewed Olympic events and where they also showed movies. The public bathrooms were small but clean often with attendants in them. I don't know if it was my sneakers or what but the floors seamed very slippery, like greasy. I thought it might be the type of flooring they had. The food in the main dining room was very good but the room, while attractive, seemed crowded and kind of dark. Most of the waitstaff were very friendly. We found ourselves eating most of our meals at the Oceanview Cafe, the buffet. The eggs were delicious as was everything else. We also liked the little grill outside the cafe where they served jumbo hot dogs and hamburgers and fries. When booking with points from our credit card, it included a "classic" drink package so ordering soda, beer wine and some cocktails throughout the cruise was easy. Aside from the pina coladas and daiquiris, their drinks were very good.

The theater shows were great. Singing and dancing were very entertaining and the two comedians were very funny. Here's a tip. If you don't want to be 'part of the show' avoid the first 5 rows and DO NOT ARRIVE LATE to the show. You will be singled out. It's a lot of fun when that happens. The Constellation lounge was good for late night entertainment; usually a live band playing classic pop music. The Guest services dept and Shore excursion personnel were always friendly, helpful and quick.
