We left Atlanta airport on July 6, 2016 for a cruise tour vacation on the Island Princess. We flew in to Vancouver, where we boarded our ship. Everything from the airport to getting on the ship went pretty smoothly. We had an early morning flight (6:00 am). However, we got to airport way too early (because of the advise of TSA). The TSA lines didn't even open until 5:30 and there was nothing open (for snacks or coffee). We flew on Canadian Air and they were the least friendly of all the airlines that we have flown on but it was not going to ruin our vacation.
When we got to Vancouver, we gathered our luggage and waited just a few minutes for our shuttle that we booked thru Princess. It was very easy and not stressful at all. They took our luggage at the airport so we didn't have to drag it with us to the ship. By the time we got to the ship, I would say we were on board within 30 minutes.
I had read several bad reviews about this ship but none of them were true as far as we were concerned. We only ate in the dining room a couple of times and the food was just ok, we liked the food on the lido deck better. But the food may not have been the best we have ever had, however, we NEVER went hungry. We were always able to find something we liked. The only issue I had was with Princess themselves and the purser desk but that is something I will comment on later.
Our cabin was in a perfect location. I think it was on the 8th deck and about in the middle of the ship. The balconies were joining and the people next to us were people we were traveling with so they unlocked our balconies. Our cabin steward was Arturo and he was excellent.
We have been here before so we just decided to walk around and shop. It is a beautiful just to walk around in and look at the little shops. We did get a HUGE cinnamon roll from a little bakery and set in the little park to eat it. Great port.
