The ship is worn and dated. Except for a couple of crew members the crew was under whelming and didn't care about the service they provided. I believe prepaid gratuities go a long ways in the drop off in service that we saw this cruise. RCCL no longer opens the dining room for lunch so you must go to the Windjammer cafe for lunch. The lunch menu was basically the same every day of the cruise and they continuously closed off large sections and ran out of food. This particularly happen just as people started returning from port. I had to eat gluten free and it took great effort to get gluten free bread or buns in the cafe. I often had to wait for more than 20 minutes to get it and then when I went to get items to make a sandwich or something the carved meats had run out. This ship has a nifty coffee bar/snack bar at the end of the promenade, but it was so over run with unruly teenagers it was virtually useless. We had the best head waiter and room steward of any cruise we have been on.

The entertainment by the ships singers and dancers was far below what we have experienced on our other 13 cruises. There was virtually no Caribbean music played anywhere on the ship. There was no steel drum band at the pool. Mostly the only music at the pool was by a DJ and it was Rap or Disco and deafening loud. When the DJ wasn't at the pool or in late night clubs he was set up in the promenade and played the same type of music, but louder. You couldn't hear the person next to you talking even when 100 yards away. Musically the only saving grace on the ship was Bruno Aguilar in the piano bar and he was excellent. There were 2 comedians on the cruise and both were pretty vulgar even at the family entertainment time. I can't imagine what the late night adult show was like. Of course attendance at these events is optional and we chose not to attend. Musically the only saving grace on the ship was Bruno Aguilar in the piano bar and he was excellent.

This cruise offered almost no enrichment activities such as classes. They offered an adult only napkin folding demonstration/class but it was so over run with 5-8 year old children that we could not participate. It was done on top of the piano in the piano bar. The crew should have advised the parents that this was an adult only class.

Cabin Review

Interior Stateroom

We were in an inside cabin that overlooked the promenade. We prefer the inside cabins as we don't spend a lot of time in the room. This one was excellent and the large window with sofa overlooking the promenade mad the room feel spacious.

Port Reviews

San Juan

The taxis in San Juan are a rip off. There is no control over what most charge.

St. Maarten

Many of the shops were closed as this excursion has you going here on a Sunday.

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

Probably the best island in this itinerary. We have traveled here previously and they have a wonderful rain forest.

St. Lucia

Nothing special

Barbados

We only went to the shops in this port. The workers were the least friendly of all the islands and didn't seem to care if you were there. We felt like they just wanted us to go away and let them alone.

Antigua

They were have their Carnival and parade and it was much like a Mardi Gras. For festive with brightly covered costumes. Lots of steel drum music. Many of the shops were closed for the Carnival. This only happens once a year.
