We were at first somewhat hesitant about the Maria Theresa because it is definitely decorated much like a Barouqe palace. At first, the decor is a little overwhelming but it is surprising how quickly one becomes accustomed and comfortable with the ship. The ship itself is in excellent and spotless condition, looking as though we might have been on it's maiden voyage. That is testament to the crew and Uniworld who look to strive for perfection in everything they do. We stayed in a suite on the third floor which was spacious, spotless with a very large bathroom with double vanities and a rain shower that would rival suites on an ocean going ship. The pictures on the website do not do the suite justice as it looks quite cluttered, which it is not. There is plenty of room within the suite and more than adequate closet space, sufficient for even a 14 day itinerary. Our only complaint, which there were very few, was that the furniture within the suite could have been more functional and comfortable. This did not apply to the bed which was luxiourious.

The food and service on board was consistently excellent. If you are a foodie, this cruise line is for you. Having sailed on more than 20 ocean cruises with Regent, Crystal and Seabourn, we were somewhat concerned about buffet breakfasts and lunches but those fears quickly faded. The buffets, especially lunch, were always excellent with top notch quality and selections. Dinner, which is served, was accompanied by very good wines, local when possible, and an equally good selection of 5 star cuisine. The crew were also top notch, very sincere and always willing to accomodatre and on par with the service one might see on Crystal or Seabourn.

Overall, a great itinerary from Budapest to Amsterdam, with quality tours and guides. A great way to see the interior of Europe on a truly great river cruise line.
