Sail Date: Apr 2009

We had cruised on Connie with a bunch of cc people whom we enjoyed so much we decided to do another cruise.  We all chose Equinox for a TA in November, 2009 and then decided to do a mini-reunion on the Century.  About 12 of us "Shooting Stars" were involved.  Along the way, of course, we picked up a dozen or more new people, so we ended up with about 30 couples on board from the boards....We arrived in Miami on Saturday morning and checked into our hotel - Hilton Bentley - where we got a city/bach view balcony on the corner.  Very noisy Saturday night, but not as bad on Sunday.  I enjoyed the beach with Astrid & Bob for a while on Saturday, then we all went to South Beach, where we enjoyed crab legs, pasta and steak under the stars at Saprano's....very nice.  They even gave both couples a bottle of wine to enjoy.  We did.  Sunday, I stayed on the beach for several hours and then we met up with a group of Shooting stars for dinner at Bay Side Market.....what a nice way to start the cruise.Monday morning we arrived at the pier about 11:30 and waited in the buffet until 1, when we were allowed into our rooms.  We met up with a bunch of the guys while there and had a nice chat.  We had upgraded from a royal suite to one of the penthouses, and found out later that another cc member got to upgrade to our old room.  We relaxed a bit and met our butler, Wilfred.  He was great and did a lot of things for us along the way, so of course we compensated him over and above what he got originally.  We had a sail-away at Betty, David, Astrid & Bob's place in the aft - what great hosts they are. Thanks everyone for all the goodies and companionship.  We met up at the martini bar to meet the newbies and passed out invitations to our pizza/champagne party on Wednesday.  More on that later.  Dinner that night was great, as we had all reserved a table together and it just got better and better.  I had joked that I did not want to sit in the same seat twice the whole cruise, and it actually happened that way.  After dinner with our waiter Ace (great guy) we went to bed.  Tuesday, Key West.  Marabella & Richard had friends in KW who had invited us to an open house.  Sonia & Steve were wonderful people and will be on the TA in November with us.  They will make good additions to the Shooting Stars.  We also invaded the Kindel Sandle Factory inmass, and all had a good time buying sandals.  I got 2 pair.  Nice leather ones for $11 each.  Afterwards, we got back on the ship and the sailaway was at Dorothy & Bob & Marabelle & Richard's in the aft for homemade lemoncello.  Thanks Dor - great stuff.  Tuesday was formal night, and Dave & I had been invited to the Captain's table.  We decided to go - another different seat for me.  As we went down the stairs to his table, our whole table at the top of the stairs stood and cheered.  I am sure the Captain thought it was for him.  he he  After supper, we attended the show, where the dancers and singers were good.  We enjoyed it and then Dave went to bed while I hit the casino a bit.  Started out ahead, but naturally, I gave it back a few days later.  Oh well.  Off to bed.Wednesday was a sea day and we had decided to host today.  I was sitting in the LR of our suite and thought no one was going to show up. Then Dave remembered that the clocks had not been turned back, and it was still 45 minutes to go, not 15 minutes late.  What a relief!  Everyone started showing up and we had all the pizza we could eat.  Wilfred kept us well supplied with both pizza and champagne.  He really was a great butler.  I guess I should say that he also brought us breakfast every morning so we could look out at the ocean while eating.  VEry relaxing.Anyway, back to Wednesday.  We did a cabin crawl, Thank you Dorothy for organizing it - and everyone got to see the various cabins.  That was a lot of fun.  Afterwards, Darn! I can't remember what we did then.  Isn't that funny?  Someone  help me here.....but that night we were in Morano's Specially restaurant.  We got six into the wine room and 6 outside.  It was a pleasant time for everyone and the food was good.  Thursday, was Grand Cayman.  Astrid, Bob, Dave & I went to the beach and enjoyed a leisurely day of sun and ocean.  Lunch on the beach was good also.  After we got back on board, we relaxed on the balcony a while.  That night we did an alternative dining in the buffet - cost $2 each.  Ace, our waiter set it up.  We had a good time and afterwards, we conked out again.  Friday was very active.  Sea day - Celebrity hosted a meet and mingle for us - about 30 showed up.  They don't usually do this, but when we asked if possible, they were very nice about it.  Thanks Celebrity.  After that, it was lunch time and Ace had set up a special luncheon (Thi) for us.  It was different, but I think I will stick to what I like.  Then the ladies decided to do the afternoon tea together.  Some of us wore our hats and we looked great.  After all that cake, etc. we were pretty full, but we also had to cheer on Dorothy, Angelo and myself at the blackjack tournament.  I did not do so good.  Angelo got high score, but then went out the first hand or two.  Dor stayed in and came in third I think.  It was a fun time.  Dinner was again in the MDR and for only the second time we ate at our regular table.  Our last supper as it were....Disembarkation was very fast and easy.  We were late arriving, but were off and in a cab to our hotel by 9:30.  We decided to go to Loew's Hotel this time and were accommodated very well for early arrival.  I stayed all day on the beach and later, we met up with Kevin, Jill, Astrid and Bob to eat in South Beach again.  Our last evening we enjoyed friends before laying our heads down for the last time in Miami this trip.  Our arrival home was uneventful.  This cruise was probably one of the BEST times we have had on a cruise, probably because of Betty, David, Astrid, Bob, Dorothy, Bob, Marabelle, Richard, Angelo, Toni, Sonia & Steve, and all the new people we met.  Thank you all for the wonderful week.  Can't wait to sail with you again.....

Cabin Review

Cabin PH

We had a penthouse and it had lots of room for everything including a full size side-by-side refrigerator and a microwave for popcorn. We enjoyed it a lot.
