Sail Date: May 2016

Love to sail out of San Juan. Love the relaxing atmosphere. Arrived at Pier rather early since we had a grp of 10 with one wheelchair. Had to stand line for a bit. Very hot. Porters started to take luggage at 11:30. Thought last time we sailed they took the luggage earlier. Check in was quick but then there was a hold up due to Coast Guard inspection. Safety First. so we have no problem waiting.. Served Water. The little store inside terminal does not sell Diet Coke or water when we were there. Last time they did..

Even with delay we were onboard and at WindJammer by 12:30. Our rooms were ready by 1:30. Our room attendant was great. The towels now used on this ship are horrible. Really rough on your skin especially sunburned. Torn and frayed. My son's attendant barely acknowledged him. My parents had an access room and their room attendant again barely acknowledged them. We did have a refrig but we had a balcony room. Muster drill was inside in theaters/lounges which was nice since it was so hot outside. I did purchase a drink package. We purchased about one week ahead so we got it about 20% off. But does not include special glasses. and if they have a special drink event you have to pay more for the cup or glass. OR you have to walk to another bar for the drink... Every little bit helps.

I believe that the Cruise Compass should be given out as you check in so you can read it as you enter the ship or while you wait for your stateroom to be ready. By the time you read it you have already missed things.. Drinks of the day are not what they used to be. Sale price is 10.00. Used to be cheaper......Day 2 is supposedly always the formal night. Good to know. We have been on several cruises and did not know that. On this particular sailing folks did not dress up much. We were overdressed with all the guys in tuxes. The first formal we saw more long dresses but the second formal was more cocktail dresses. We are glad the Crown and Anchor Society now called Top Tier event.is back...

Cabin Review

Cabin Balcony

Room location was fine. We had a refrig. You need to request ice. Adventure of the Seas needs to update their towels and washcloths. Extremely rough and torn. The ship no longer gives bottles of shampoo/conditioner/bath gel but a dispenser in the shower.

Port Reviews

San Juan

We flew into San Juan a day early stayed at Hampton Inn. took cab into Old San Juan for a quick walk around. Had a little lunch and then the rain came. A lot of traffic and construction. Should be beautiful when it is completed. Save time for the Ft. Beautiful views. We stopped there on the on the way back to the air[port when we arrived back in San Juan. Our flight was very late so we had plenty of time. You only need about 2 hrs. Very worth the time.

St. Thomas

Love St Thomas. could not change rating above. Tried to walk to a island taxi to Red Hook Ferry. Locals not too happy with that. So basically forced to take a regular taxi and pay around 8.00 pp rather than 1.00. Arrived just in time for the 10:00AM Ferry to St John.$ 14.00 roundtrip ferry. Then safari taxi to Trunk bay. You will need to wait until they fill the taxi. Small admission to use the park. National Park yearly passes are not good here. You will still need to pay day rate. There are changing rooms/showers/bathrooms. Snack bar has drinks for around 7.00 to 8.00. Quick food chick fingers etc. Snorkel trail. A really nice day, Headed back around 1 or so. Since we had to be back on board by 4:30. Had time enough to have a quick look around at the shops in Cruz Landing in St John. and drink at the ferry. Used local taxi back because we piggy back on someone else's. Paid around 8pp.jWe were back in plenty of time. You could of course book thru Cruise line but we wanted to see more of the island and pay less money.

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

We stayed around the pier and made a duty free purchases. My daughter and her boyfriend took a small tour in town for about 20.00 pp. They enjoyed it but then came back to the ship.

Curacao

used Natasha with Dushi Taxi for a Island Tour. She was waiting with sign in hand. She had a handicap van. Wonderful tour to Liquor factory, historic tour of houses and views. Dropped mom and Dad back to pier then off to Pantages Porto Mari. Beach fee 3.00 pp. I wish we knew their was a walk way which was completely safe for walking and wheelchairs. Did not realize you could walk from ship to Queen Ann Platoon Bridge and then across to restaurants. Grill King Restaurant (made inside an old for)t was wonderful. It was overlooking the water and watching the sunset. Beautiful at night well worth the walk.

Aruba

Booked a snorkel trip thru Roberto Water Sports located between Holiday Inn and the Marriott. took cab to snorkel place by the high rise district. They only took cash so be prepared and email ahead of time to make sure they have space. Great price $40.00 pp.. 3 1/2 hrs trip includes several snorkel stops and snack, sandwich, drinks. Fantastic trip. One snorkel spot was German Sub-kind of deep water and a little rough but really cool. We stayed at the beach- did not pay anything for use. Used restrooms near a pool, located near Roberto Water sports. Water was beautiful off the beach. Only negative was trying to get a cab back to terminal. If you even LOOK wet or that you were at the beach cabs will NOT pick you up.. So allow yourself extra time. We walked out of hotel and down to the shops and then had to step in front of a cab to get one. Luckily he took us. He then of course asked if we were wet.....or sand....Crazy... Went to the vendors or market across from cruise terminal. It was very busy and hot. Same old things. bags/shirts etc. .Did not see any duty free liquor..If you wait until the last minute to get back by the pier the streets gets very crowded with work and pier traffice.
