This was my first time cruising and did so with my sister. Travel agent gave us a few itinerary and this was the best. The beginning of the journey was rather smooth at the airport as P&O had staff members directing you all the way. Arriving in Venice was also a breeze as again P&O staff was there to make sure everything was smooth. We had chosen a very early flight(7:00 am) as we wanted to experience little bit of Venice before the shipped sailed away. Unfortunately, for us that was not to be so. Just before the cruise quite a few memos were sent via email reminding us of the little stuff you need to do before the cruise, one is to make certain that you require no visa at the different ports and if you did you needed to take care of it. We were both Caricom Nationals(Caribbean) holding such passport and only required visa in Kotor Montenegro( two weeks before the cruise we receive a message from the embassy us that we no longer needed one) which we were ecstatic about. On arrival at the terminal we were asked to wait so the staff can be sure we were ok to travel t each of the tops. That wait was over 2 hours. We got upset because such a huge company like this should be better prepared for situations like this as our passport information was given when we booked. Needless to say we missed out on seeing Venice, since when we were given the ok, We went to rooms to shower and then to eat something. By that time we had to wait on the emergency drill and we not really in the mood to go out as that experience had soured our mood.

The cruise did get much better after, ship is large but not overly. We were able to navigate around though we kept on second guessing ourselves to which floor we were suppose to be on. The cabin is a bit small(inside cabin 10th floor) but we didn't mind as we were only there to sleep. Spent most of our time out of the cabin. Do be mindful that there are lounge chair huggers, if you wanted a chair you need to be out and about very early as it gets filled up very quickly. The swimming pools and jacuzzi were filled with teenagers(think we choose the wrong time of the year to travel), not much chance to enjoy that.

We had the freedom dining option which was in the Linguarian Restaurant, which we both felt was a very good choice as it gave us the opportunity to eat when we wanted and not a time dictated to us. Food was overall really good except the grouse(not my cup of tea). Kept everyone well feed. Have never eaten so much in my life than I did for those 7 days. Always felt peckish Entertainment was especially enjoyable, a group called the Flyrights performed twice, we went both night. The specialize in blues music, motown vibes. The comedian was also pretty good though sometimes his accent made it so that we didn't really understand(it was very thick). We also so a theater dance and singing group(can't remember their name) which was also very good.

Cabin OB

Cabin is a bit small but worked for us. Always kept clean and comfortable. Kudos to Llyod our Steward.

Port Reviews

Venice

Venice was beautiful to drive through on the way to the cruise terminal, was disappointed that we didn't have time to explore. Perhaps next time.

Kotor

We did not take a planned excursion but did our own thing after doing some research on TripAdvisor. We decided to do the Fortress Hike. Walked out of the cruise ship crossed the street and got a map to the entrance at the main gate paid 3 euro entrance fee and started the hike. Please be mindful that you need proper shoes. There are some crude steps and some gravel walkway which is a bit slippery even with the correct footwear(especially descending). Didn't finish only got to 3/4 of the way, but my sister did finish. It was totally worth it cause the view is absolutely breathtaking. Took 45 minutes up and about 20 minutes down. We walked through the old town then went to a nearby beach(though I wouldn't call it that). Being from Caribbean(St.Lucia) that beach to me was definitely not up to standards. Just being a snob. It was a great day and one of my favorite stops. The sail away on the deck was a must for this stop. The mountains were truly majestic. WOW!
