The Carnival Triumph did not disappoint! After many negative reviews, I have decided your cruise is what you make of it. We went intending to have a great time, and we did! The ship looks in great condition. Here and there it shows its age, but it was clean, and everything we came in contact with was in working order.

The cabin - we had a balcony cabin, and it was plenty spacious for a cruise ship cabin. A nice sofa, king size bed, with very comfortable pillows and bedding! The AC was cold, and the TV worked great. Plenty of closet space, but limited drawers, used some of the shelving in order to unpack. The bathroom was where you noticed the age of the ship, with outdated pink tiles and some scratches here and there. Our cabin steward - I Wayan, was great. He made animal towels each night, cleaned the room very well (we had our kids with us so his work was cut out for him). He even cleaned the carpets with more than a vacuum when my daughter got some chocolate cake in the carpet. He decorated the room without being asked, for my wife's birthday. The room service menu was missing, and when we asked he got one right away and apologized. I saw him a few times in the hallway or cleaning another room, and he always greeted my by first name.

The dining was fantastic. On the buffets there are going to be some things you do not like, but the choices seem endless. The kids went nuts with the fresh fruit. I loved the burgers at Guy's (almost daily) and the burritos at the blue iguana (they have breakfast and lunch options). We only ate dinner in the main dining room but there were good options. Not 5 star, but you cannot beat the service and choices. Everything was served hot, and tasted good. Enjoyed the carnival melting cake every night! They will make substitutions, and accommodate your little ones too! I even ordered more than one appetizer on two nights. Our assistant waiter, Ayu, was just a sweetheart. She made origami and napkin creations for our kids every night, and chatted with us often.

Cabin was nice. Showed its age a bit in the bathroom, but we slept comfortably!

The staggered embarkation is a lovely thing. We parked at Fulton St. Garage, and paid $50 as opposed to $80 to park for our 4 day cruise. The shuttle was there and waiting both there and back, so I highly recommend. It was about 3 minutes away. Getting on and off took about an hour each, nothing to horrible, and all staff were friendly!
