We were looking for a cruise that visited the little, out-of-the-way parts of the British Isles and couldn't resist the 'BOGOF' offer we saw in our local paper last year. As the cruise dawned our only fear was that the cruise seemed too cheap to be true, but we needn't have worried, although the extortionate price of car parking at Tilbury, the high cost of shore excursions etc. soon bumped up the overall total. Even so, this holiday was exceptional value for money.
We have cruised on a number of the bigger lines, so it was a relief to find that most of the facilities we appreciate (nice sizeable cabins, quality food, range of onboard entertainment etc.) were at least equal to our previous experiences. Our Deck 7 inside cabin was spacious, spotless and extremely comfortable. Dina the cabin attendant was bright and cheery, always available but never interfering; as good as any we have ever met.
There seem to be some questions raised in earlier reviews concerning the quality of the food: we found the choice, presentation and quantities excellent in both the Bistro and the Kensington Restaurant. Of course it was sometimes difficult to grab a window seat in the Bistro at peak times - it is on any cruise, but the selection of breakfast items was vast and offered the full English for those requiring it, fruit and cheeses, pastries ... anything you could eat! Dinner was first rate with the emphasis on quality, great variety with most evenings 'themed', and quantity in the sense of five courses, rather than heaped plates. There was a fair range of (very over-priced) wines available; the house wines were reasonable and much better value.
Large, well set-out. Nice to have a safe. Quoted 'mini-bar' consisted of a tray (hunted for 45 minutes before realising!).
Can't understand complaints about the bathroom: excellent in every way. All kept super-clean; nice towel animals produced for us on regular basis. Best inside cabin we have ever had.
