Decided to go into Long Beach airport after reading other comments. It is very small airport so don't plan to spend any time there unless you have to. Cost $50 for taxi to the DoubleTree San Pedro Hotel. It was clean and location on Marina was fine. We enjoy morning walks so we hit the trails to beach and to Harbor shops a few miles away. It's industrial location but felt safe walking the streets during day hours. Ate at hotel, burgers/sandwiches are fine. Be sure not to leave anything in your luggage as we were robbed from housecleaning. I had $50 worth of singles and five's for tipping on cruise which were buried/hidden (so I thought)in my makeup case within my carryon. Housekeeping came to clean room and we went down for drinks on patio and I only grabbed my purse. Didn't realize money was gone until we got on the ship next day. Have contacted the hotel to fill out incident report so I share my mistake of being to trusting with everyone. Cruise embarkation was smooth. Got there about 12:30 and in room by 1:00 pm. Ship is older but very clean. Liked the promenade feel reminding me of walking through the shops in Vegas or sitting for coffee to watch others. Staff members were all friendly. First time we've had bad or inexperienced bartenders mixing drinks at a couple of the bars. I couldn't get a very dry martini to save my soul. Hubby ordered a manhattan and the guy put bitters in it! So for those who can relate, at the prices they charge definitely have them try again. We did venture into the Consignor Lounge but being new to that level of the Suite room service, we found it crowded and uncomfortable to stand around waiting for a free drink. Did meet a few folks who were talkative but it felt more club or group like. Food was fine but nothing gourmet. We did not visit our assigned table until a few days into the cruise as we had booked the specialty rest. Our 8:30 late seating had us next to tables where adults had group booked with about 8-10 kids so it's not for us to enjoy late evening dining with other peoples kids thus we didn't return. Enjoyed Chops,Portofino and Johnny Rocket. Overall there were no bad experiences but nothing to make me a "committed" RCL cruiser. Cruising has seemed to become a cult experience as we met a large number of folks who cruised a lot and had high expectations of being served first or making sure they are getting their money's worth. The crowds got a little to pushy for me.

Cabin Review

Owner's Suite

Cabin OS

Cabin 1628. Size and location are great. Balcony wonderful just need to ask staff to clean it during cruise if you have any meals out there. Bathroom is great shape. Furnishings are worn. The couch is nasty. Cushions flat/stained and not something I would leave in a luxury suite (maybe old cottage). Very quiet.
