I have always cruised on Celebrity or Royal Caribbean but on my trip to Alaska I thought Princess was the way to go. My review is on the ship only, not the itinerary portion (which was fabulous).

Embarking and disembarking was pleasant. The lines moved very quickly. The ship itself was very tired looking. It was like going to a 3 star hotel. The carpet was quite worn in the hallways and by the pool. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The furnishings need to be updated. It is just not pretty. The worst thing was the tiny shower. What made it worse, was the shower curtain that you had to fight with while showering. The steward was adequate, nothing out of the ordinary. My group found the food to be very disappointing. We found ourselves ordering 2 dinners hoping one would be ok. It wasn't that the food tasted bad, much of it didn't have a taste at all. My husband used the fitness center which he described as the worst equipped he has seen on a ship. He had spoken with someone that had been on the ship before they relocated the fitness center and he was shocked at where they put it. There are no windows and it is quite small. Would I recommend Princess? Probably not unless the itinerary was different than what other ships offered. All of this aside, I went to see Alaska. My room was clean, bed was comfortable and the sights amazing.
