Sail Date: Jul 2016

We chose this cruise as a member of my party can only go in school holidays, and having cruised the Baltic on the last one we decided to go for warmth this year. The first disappointment, we were informed before we had even got on the ship that Gibraltar was canceled as they could not berth the ship to to it being very busy on our day of arrival !!!!! should the ship's berth not be booked as soon as the cruise go on sale to the public ???? the substitute was Guernsey !!!

Embarkation was well organised and done swiftly, our cabin was kept spotlessly clean by our steward Ram who was warm and friendly, we were disappointed at the size of our balcony hardly room for two people to sit out with the chairs reclined. the ships lay out is ridiculous, you can not walk from one end of the ship to the other without going through the dining rooms and using the lifts, anyone with a disability would find this ship extremely frustrating as the lifts are always full because of the lack of stairs from people that can and will use them. (with the exception of the stairs that go to no where).

We chose Freedom dining and i have never experienced such non discript food on a cruise before, several same items were on the menu every night, and on a couple of nights food could not be eaten due to under cooking (paella) and quality of meat (lamb). The Horizon buffet tried its best but food was often cold and repeated, very poor choice of fruit available all the same for 14 days !!!!

Port Reviews

Southampton

Good embarkation to the ship, no long delays.

Seville

Pretty little town, good cafes and bars.

Barcelona

P&O will charge you 4 euros each way to access Barcelona as this is a closed port ( you can not walk out of it, but they don't tell you this ) but the city is wonderful, make sure you pre booked tickets to get into SA Grada Familiar as they are always sold out on the day. Taxis are efficient and cheap to get around in.

Cartagena (Spain)

A pretty place very peaceful, the Roman theater is well worth a visit, good bars and cafes.
