This is our 6th cruise, 3rd with P&O. I say third, because our first was with them (which nearly put us off) and the 5th one was a quickie which I did with some girl friends and will be doing again.
My husband and I work long hours. For us, cruising is about the ship rather than the destination. We have learnt that you shouldn't really do overseas cruises, as it costs so much to get there and you dont get enough shore time. So now, we just cruise around Australia and the outlaying islands.
So, we fly into Brisbane and spend a night in a The Kingsford Smith hotel. It was clean and comfortable and the Austrailan hosts were very pleasant. They also have free transfers to and from the ship and back to the airport the next day. Nice touch.
Cabin had small shower/toilet. About the size of a small ensuite.
Area for hanging clothes and storing suitcases. Also had drawers.
Room was OK size, as long as you put things away.
Bed was reasonably comfy, but pillow was a bit flat. Hubby likes flat pillows, so he was happy.
Only gripe would be if they hung the TV on the wall, it would make a bit more space.
Room was also pretty smelly the first couple of days, like toliet was leaking We wedged a chair to keep the balcony door open and that helped a bit. Odour seemed to disappear after a few days.
We got there a little early, but there were plenty of seats to sit and wait at.
Dismebarkation was a little worrying. We docked an hour and a half late. Even though the shuttle bus was booked for 3 hours after scheduled docking we only just made it at the pre arranged time. Shuttle was full and we had to wait for about an hour and a half for the next one. There were signs saying "black and white taxis, $30 per car load to aorport". Will do that next time.
Even though flight was booked for 12.20pm (docking was suppose to be 6am), we didnt have much time to spare at airport.
Allow plenty of time if you are doing your own flights.
