We had no previous cruising experience so didn't know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. Embarkation and disembarkation were well organized, and took much less time than we envisioned upon arrival, given the high volume of people.
We really appreciated the Freestyle cruising as we could choose where and when we ate all our meals. Food was excellent and varied. The buffet had high quality food and a wide variety for us to sample. Azura restaurant in particular was so good that we found ourselves going back several times.
Service was universally friendly and competent. Couldn't believe the wonderful shows, especially the Cirque. What talent. The stateroom was small, but efficiently laid out, and it all worked well. We booked an inside stateroom to save money. No complaints, and we didn't really spend that much time IN the stateroom, but next time I would spring for a window, just because I like to look out. Steward kept it nice and clean.
Small, but efficiently laid out. Bed was comfortable.
We chose to explore Ketchikan on our own, and enjoyed doing that very much. The cruise ship dock is right there in town, easy to walk to/from. Picturesque town. We took the city bus out to Totem Bight State park. Very interesting and beautiful, as was the neighboring Potlatch Park. Favorite area to explore right in Ketchikan was Creek Street. Great town!
We used to live in Seattle, so know it well and didn't do any exploring. In this instance the traffic was actually not awful, which is saying a lot these days! Seattle is underestimated weatherwise, not as much rain as people seem to think, and it's a wonderful place to explore.
