My husband and I were planning our 30th wedding anniversary celebration and wanted it to be a vacation to end all vacations - a cruise was our choice. We have traveled enough aboard cruise ships to know what we didn't want - finding it was the challenge. While we adore children, spending time on a crusie ship that more resembled an "amusement park" was not for us. We researched the cruise lines and their itineraries as Bermuda was our destination of choice. For all of those reasons and more, Celebrity and specifically the Summit was our choice.
We read the many CC reviews and watched countless YouTube videos of the Summit and Celebrity itself. We highly recommend you do your research as well. We hoped at the end of the day the reviews were honest and accurate - they were. They proved to be pricelss!
The demographic (at least from what we had read prior to our cruise and what we experienced aboard Celebrity) is older, more mature, veteran crusiers many, diserning and respectful. This was not a crowd that was cannon-balling into the swimming pool or falling over drunk - and we really appreciated that!
Our stateroom was ample (Cabin 6127). Boasting a large bathroom, walk-in closet, sitting area, make up area, a comfortable sofa with a table and chair, a beautiful balcony and a/c sufficient in keeping the cabin very cool. The cabin attendants were amazing. Our cabin was spotless, always maintained, turn-down service like clockwork, fresh towels, fresh flowers, fresh fruit, fresh champagne EVERY day. As suite guests we enjoyed a private butler during our stay. Chip was kind, attentive and truly a professional. We were truly cared for every moment.
Cape Liberty is both well-staffed curb-side as well as inside. Our bags were taken and returned promptly at both embarkation and disembarkation. The staff inside were fast and courteous and the process was organized for both embarkation and disembarkation.
While in port, exiting the ship was flawless. Remember to bring your SeaPass card and ID EVERY time you leave the ship (we travel with our passports). You will need them both when reboarding the ship in port. Your bags will be scanned and you will go thru security each and every time. Be patient and courteous and follow the rules and all goes smoothly. Safety was their main concern and, as a sailing passenger, I truly appreciated it.
